HMO PLANS

A HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) is defined by the 2004 Housing Act. It states that a HMO is a property occupied by 3 or more tenants who are not living together as a family, who share basic amenities.

A HMO plan is required for any property which adhere to the above criteria, it must be compliant with the Local Authority's guidelines.

Each Local Authority has different requirements, the aim of the Floor Plan is to indicate:

  • The layout of the house including size & proportions of rooms, windows etc.
  • If and where fire doors are fitted.
  • The location of fire detection & alarm equipment.
